TUSKEGEE, Ala. | Shelle Daniels led three players in double figures with 24 points and seven rebounds for Tuskegee University as the Golden Tigers beat Central State, 84-78 in an SIAC match at Chappie James Arena Saturday afternoon.

Ashiala Jackson has had four double doubles in the past five games after a 24 point performance, shooting  7-of-15 from the floor and 11 rebounds. Junior guard India Blakely finished the night with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while adding four assists and two steals.

The Golden Tigers shot 43.5 (30-of-69) percent from floor. They also shot 65 (23-of-28) percent from the free throw line, while winning the rebounding battle 49-42 over Central State.
The first half was a tightly contested half. Central State guard Takyra Gilbert led the half with 10 points. The lead swapped seven times in the first half. Tuskegee went into halftime down 38-34. 

There was a one point difference in the contest with Tuskegee up 73-72 in the final four minutes when Jackson hit two free throws to grow Tuskegee's lead to 75-72 3:18 to play, but then Central State cut the Tuskegee lead with a three pointer by former Tuskegee guard and current Central State guard Alexis Shirrells with 2:35 to play. Jackson put home a layup and closed out the game.

Central State had five women scoring double figures led by Gilbert with 17, junior forward Sandra Guilford with 16 points, and Shirrells with 15 points .

Tuskegee moves to 12-8 (8-3 SIAC) Tuskegee will stay home to host Kentucky State Saturday February 3rd with tip set for 5:30 pm.
