Tuskegee, AL. – The Tuskegee University's women's basketball team moves to 10-8 (6-3 SIAC) on the season with a 79-71 victory over LeMoyne-Owen college Monday evening at Chappie James Arena.
Three Golden Tigers finished in double figures paced by Senior guard Ashiala Jackson, who obtained her third consecutive double-double with 26 points, 14 rebounds and a steal. Jackson Shot for 64.2% (9-of-14).
The Golden Tigers got off to a strong start in the first quarter, scoring 12 of the first 14 points in the contest. The Golden Tigers found success in the post finishing the quarter with an 11 point lead (23-12). The Golden Tigers shot 50% (7-of-14) in the first quarter
Junior guard India Blakely contributed 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Senior forward Shelle Daniels tallied 11 points, seven rebounds and a steal. Daniels and Jackson weren't the only Golden Tigers to contribute as Tamia Willingham-King dished out eight points and two rebounds.
The game featured no lead changes with only one tie as the Magicians struggled to find an answer to Tuskegee's dynamic offense.
The Golden Tigers' biggest lead came in the 3rd quarter with 7:02 remaining by 12 from a layup by Jackson.
The Golden Tigers finished with 13 assists on their 27 made field goals and outrebounded the Magicians, 54-29.
The Golden Tigers will travel to Jackson Tennessee to play Lane College (4-11, 3-5 SIAC) on January 25th in an SIAC match. Tip off is set for 2:00 pm CST.
