Golden Tigers to host rival Miles College in home opener

The Tuskegee University volleyball team is set to host rival Miles College (Wednesday) and Oakwood College (Thursday) in a pair of home matches inside the Chappie James Center. Wednesday's match will be the home opener for TU (1-7, 1-3) who played their first eight games on the road.

Skegee is led by Crystal Hall who aleady has topped the century mark in Kills with 104 on the season. The Morrow, Ga. native also has earned 49 Digs. Santana Lewis (112) and Jayla Garrett (82) ranks first on the team in assists. 

Last time out, Skegee had succes on the final day of the SIAC West Cluster, earning a 3-2 win over LeMoyne Owen College in Frankfurt, Kentucky.  TU outscored its opponent 83-57 in points, 67-43 in kills and 62-39 in assists.  Crystal Hall and Syncere Ellis dominated the Magicians in Kills with 21 and 18 respectively. Santana Lewis produced a season-high 34 assists while Khirra Kenny added a team-high 15 digs. Hall added 14 on the day. 

The Golden Bears, Wedneday's opponent fell to Talladega College in straight sets Monday night (25-18, 25-23, 25-22) at Knox-Windham Gymnasium and is still in search of its first win. Julia Whittaker (7 kills, 8 digs, 3 blocks), La' Promise Boone (15 assists, 6 kills), and Tatiyana Thomas (8 digs, 5 blocks, 3 kills) were among the leaders in a well-rounded effort, but the Lady Bears (0-6) could not shut the door on the Tornadoes (7-3) despite having big leads in the final two sets.

Skegee has won 12 out of the last 13 meetings against Miles.
