The Tuskegee University softball team is all set to host the University of Montevallo Wednesday, April 3. at the TU Softball Field in a non-conference double header. The Golden Tigers return home for the first time since entertaining Alabama A&M in February.
Winners of five in a row at one point, TU has most recently dropped four consecutive games, which includes being swept at Spring Hill College and losing the finale of a three-game series at Kentucky State two weekends ago. Montevallo 18-19 overall enters the contest clinching a conference series over Mississippi College.
Haley Barnette leads the Falcons with a .381 batting average. She's scored 29 runs on 43 hits and has a team leading six home runs. First year third baseman
Kendra Gibbons powers the Golden Tigers batting .328 and has started in each of the team's 21 games. The Lineville Ala. native has 20 hits, scored 10 runs and 10 RBI while being tied for two homers.
The two teams last met back on Feb. 13. in which the Falcorns claimed both victories at Montevallo.
First pitch in Wednesday afternoon's doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. at the TU Softball Field. Admission is free.
