The Tuskegee women's basketball team had three players score in double figures which led to a 70-62 road win over Central State Saturday afternoon in Wilberforce, Ohio. The victory gives TU its highest regular season win total in six years and completes the season sweep over the Mauraders.
Jade Wilson led all scorers with 18 points and seven rebounds while
Alexis Carter scored 17 points and pulled down 16 boards for her 11th double-double of the season and 14th time scoring in double figures.
Normesha Pitts chipped in 14 points for the Golden Tigers.
Defensively TU held CSU to 19 percent shooting from three point range by going only 4-of-21 on the day. Overall the Mauraders shot 30 percent from field goal range. The Golden Tigers scored 25 points off turnovers, while also outscoring its opponent in second chance points (12-8) and points in the paint (34-32).
Skegee held its biggest lead with 3:10 left to play in the third quarter when
India Blakely nailed a three pointer to put TU ahead 47-37. Blakely finished with seven points and five assists.
Shelle Daniels added six points and hauled in eight boards for the Golden Tigers.
Jaeda Davis and Takyra Gilberst led CSU scoring 12 points each.
Tuskegee improves to 18-6 overall and 13-3 in the SIAC. Central State falls to 9-16 overall and a 6-10 mark in league play.
TU closes out the regular season Monday at Kentucky State. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
