Two big innings hurt Golden Tigers at Auburn-Montgomery

Tuskegee dropped to 0-5 overall on the season after surrendering a 14-0 road loss at Auburn University-Montgomery (AUM) Wednesday afternoon on the road at the AUM Baseball Complex.

The Warhawks drew first blood in inning number one, when Cobb stole second base and drew a throw from the Tuskegee catcher to allow Smelley to come home for the successful double steal and put AUM on top 1-0. The Warhawks would add another run in the second inning, this time taking advantage of a wild pitch that plated Feaster and doubled their lead to 2-0.

The Golden Tigers would plate a run in the third inning when Corey Stallings singled to center field for an RBY single that score Tayari Albright.  AUM would respond in the fourth inning with a three-spot to take a 5-1 lead. A Zielonko double to left that plated Smelley and Arrington, followed by an RBI knock from Blackwell two batters later that allowed Zielonko to come in, accounted for the scoring action in the fourth.

After grabbing a run in the fifth via a Smelley RBI sacrifice fly, the Warhawks would break open the game with a five-spot in the sixth inning. AUM would score their first run of the inning courtesy of a Golden-Tiger throwing error, and would see their next two runs in the inning come via a Smelley single to right field that plated Henderson and Khoury. A Cobb infield hit, and Zielonko reaching base via another Tuskegee throwing error, would plate the Warhawk's final two runs of the inning to see AUM lead 11-1 through six.

The Warhawks added a pair of runs in the seventh, courtesy of an RBI base hit to left center from Smelley and a Golden-Tiger balk that allowed Flowers to score. Dunn's RBI groundout to short in the eighth inning made for the final tally of the game for either teams.

Tuskegee starts a three-game set with rival Morehouse College this Saturday in a double-header that starts and 12:00 p.m. and a single game on Sunday that also starts at noon.
