The Tuskegee University softball team scored four runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning, leading to 7-6 come from behind win over Claflin Sunday evening on the final day of the HBCU Tournament in Acworth, Ga. The Golden Tigers played four games at the two-day tournament and finished 2-2 over the weekend.
Trailing 6-3 in the seventh, Cece Tennessee started the rally when she singled through the right side, scoring
Jamea Lyons.
Jayme Marbury brought the game to within one run when she drove in
Myracle Hawkins making the score 6-5. Kayala Wright broke things open with a two RBI single that scored
Sierra Smith Marbury. The two runs ended up being game winners.
Smith paced TU scoring three runs and one hit including a solo homerun in the 5th inning.
Lyons earned the victory for the Golden Tigers. She pitched the entire duration striking at three batters improving her record to 1-1 on the season. Bre'Zhay Chambers was credited with the loss.
TU improves to 2-9 overall and winners of their last two out of four games. The Golden Tigers will travel to Montevallo Wednesday for a double header that starts at 4 p.m.
