Cam Grepke deflected an inbounds pass with 11 seconds left that led to a
Myles Thomas steal and a pair of free throws as the Tuskegee University men's basketball team downed Paine College, 58-54 Monday night at Chappie James Arena. Prior to the steal, TU led by two points 56-54 and Thomas put the game away by sinking two free throws with 2.6 second remaining, lifting his team to their sixth straight win.
Daniel Roach came off of the bench to lead the Golden Tigers in scoring with 11 points, which included going 2-of-3 from three point range.
Riley Hamilton, the only other TU player in double figures added 10 points.
The sixth consecutive wins ties the longest winning streak season since the 2013-14 season.
The Golden Tigers jumped out to a 33-19 halftime lead and much would be credited to their play defensively holding the Lions to only 25 percent shooting from the field. Cold second half shooting by Skegee would open the door, leaving Paine College the opportunity to work their way back into the game as they only shot 28 percent.
Cameron Gaines led the Lions with 16 points.
TU will play its third straight home game Saturday when they host Kentucky State Saturday in a doubleheader that starts at 1 p.m. The game can be seen live on the
Tuskegee Digital Network
