The Tuskegee University women's basketball team dominated in the third period of a midweek game which would eventually lead to a 72-61 road victory over Spring Hill College Thursday night in Mobile, Ala. The Golden Tigers have now won seven of their last nine games.
TU closed out the first period leading by two, 20-18, but found themselves trailing by six points at halftime after being outscored in the second period 20-11. The Golden Tigers scored 17 points off SHC turnovers and also held a 15-4 advantage with second chance points.
Alexis Carter scored a game-high 23 points along with six rebounds and six blocked shots.
Shelle Daniels fell two rebounds short of earning a double-double, producing 15 points and eight boards.
Jade Wilson added eight points and six rebounds, while
India Blakely nearly notched a triple double pouring seven points, seven assists and nine boards.
TU now improves to 13-5 overall and 8-2 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play and is ranked first in the West Division.
The Golden Tigers return home for a battle with rival Miles College Saturday afternoon. The admission is $5.00 and free for students with a valid TU I.D. Tip off for Greek Night is set for 1 p.m. The game can be seen live on the
