The Tuskegee University women's basketball team had four players to score in double figures en route to a 67-61 win over Miles College Saturday afternoon inside the Chappie James Center. TU has now won three of the last four meetings over its arch rival and is also in the midst of a three-game winning streak.
Alexis Carter continued her dominance with her 11th consecutive game scoring in double figures as she finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds, two blocked shots and along with two steals.
Shelle Daniels and
Jade Wilson both added 15 points while S. Daniels also pulled down eight rebounds.
India Blakely would chip in 10 points and seven assists with
Normesha Pitts, who made the team's only three pointer on day, finishing with nine points.
Victoria Sutton led Miles with 18 points.
Skegee held its biggest lead after the first quarter when they found themselves ahead 23-12. The Golden Bears did outscore the Golden Tigers 13-6 in the second period, but TU still went into the break up four, 29-25.
The win improves Tuskegee's record to 14-5 overall and 9-2 in the SIAC, the best conference record through 11 games since the 2013-14 season when the team was 8-3 in league play. The Golden Tigers also hold a boastful 10-2 record when playing at home this season.
TU will host Lane College next Saturday in a double-header with the men's team that starts at 1 p.m. from the Chappie James Center. Admission is $5.00 and free for students with a valid student ID.
