Men's basketball has its eight-game wining streak snapped in Memphis

The Tuskegee University men's basketball team suffered its first loss since Dec. 15, with a 79-70 defeat at LeMoyne-Owen College Saturday night in Memphis, Tenn.  The longest winning streak in six years ended at eight as TU now drops to 11-6 overall and 7-2 in the SIAC.

Jordan Lewis came off of the bench to score a team-high 16 points in 10 minutes of action. The McDonough, Ga. native also made all five of his field goals going 5-of-5 on the night. Myles Thomas chipped in 16 points of his own including four three pointers. Jordan Gaines was also 100 percent from the field, scoring 12 points on 6-of-6 shooting.

TU led by one point 19-18 with 6:41 left in the first half, but LOC closed out the first half with a 12-2 run, which led to a 36-24 halftime deficit.

The Golden Tigers outscored its opponent 34-4 off the bench, but they also committed 21 turnovers on the night. TU trailed by 17 points 64-47 with 6:41 left in the game and trimmed the deficit down to 10 points three different times. They would not get any closer than nine points, which is how the game ended at 79-70. 
 
Three LeMoyne players scored in double figures with Devin Booker leading all scorers with 23 points. Tyrone Banks and Jerry Hurt both contributed 22 points each.
