Golden Tigers drop second straight on the road

The Tuskegee University men's basketball team could not overcome hot shooting from Lane College Monday evening falling on the road 75-53 in Jackson (Tenn). The loss marked the second straight defeat after the team was also unssuccseful at LeMoyne-Owen last Saturday night.

The Golden Tigers had its biggest lead with 6:41 left in the first half after a Kaleb Morton three pointer put them ahead 21-15. Later in the half, the game was tied at 23-23 with 3:15 remaining when Terrace Holt sparked a 7-2 run which included a dunk, a jumpsot and a three pointer to end the half with the Dragons leading 30-23 at the break.

Cold shooting took over in the second half as the team was only 5-of-22 from three point range for 16 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

TU got outplayed in two critical areas, points off turnovers (20-6) and points in the Paint (34-16). The loss drops Skegee to 11-7 overall and 7-3 in the SIAC.

Myles Thomas and Riley Hamilton led Tuskegee in scoring with 13 points each. They both pulled down five rebounds apiece too. Cam Grepke added 10 points and team-high seven rebounds.

The Golden Tigers will stay on the road for a battle with Spring Hill College Thursday night. Tip off is set for  7 p.m. from Mobile, Ala.
