Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball takes two on day one of SIAC Crossover

The Tuskegee University volleyball team came away with a pair of victories on the first day of the 2018 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Volleyball Crossover. The Golden Tigers defeated both Benedict College and Fort Valley State in straight sets in Albany, Ga, hosted on the campus of Albany State.

In game one against BC, TU was led by a pair of players that both notched double figures in kills, Taliyana Bryant (14) and Syncere Ellis (11). Crystal Hall added eight kills of her own for a team that outscored its opponent 50-23. The Golden Tigers also more than doubled its margin in the kills category 44-19. Santana Lewis continues to dominate in the assists category. She finished with 30 after the first match.

Skegee has made incredible strides year-to-date. Last season they dropped five of their six contests at the crossover. TU has also surpassed last season's win total of six with a current nine win season.

The Golden Tigers picked up where they left off in game two against FVSU including Bryant who finished with a game-high 16 kills.  Just like game one, TU handled the Golden Lions in straight sets (25-14, 25-20, 25-16). Ellis and Hall also added 10 kill apiece. The Golden Tigers earned 12 Aces on day with Bryant and Kiah Vanhoose earning three each.

The team will close out play with two more games Friday against Clark Atlanta and Paine College at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. respectively and a final match that gets underway Saturday at 11:00 a.m. against Albany State.

All games can be followed via live stats for the remainder of the tournament.
