The Tuskegee University baseball team sent its four seniors (
Trey Nelson,
Jordyn Thomas,
Lane Williams and
Gabriel Selochan) out on a winning note downing arch rival Morehouse College 4-3 Sunday afternoon in Montgomery. The victory provided the Golden Tigers with the series win after splitting yesterday's doubleheader at Paterson Field.
Morehouse got on the board in the first inning when Christian Griffith grounded out, scoring one run. However, TU pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning when
Elgin Woodside singled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.
Nytorious Cooler was on the mound for the Golden Tigers and allowed eight hits and three runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out four. Jason Davis pitched for the Maroon Tigers lasted two and a third innings, allowing one hit and three runs while striking out three. Demetrius Burton threw five and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen.
Woodside led TU with two hits in three at bats.
Tuskegee completes its regular season and now shifts its attention to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Baseball Tournament that runs May 3-6 in Albany, Ga. Visit www.goldentigersports.com for tournament information.
