The Tuskegee University softball team came from behind in dramatic fashion to complete its series sweep of Lane College Tuesday afternoon in Jackson, Tenn at Morris Field. The win provided the Golden Tigers with their second complete series sweep of the season after doing the same to LeMoyne Owen College last weekend.
TU fell behind midway through the contest when the Dragons built a 3-0 lead after four innings.
Chelsea Mowery started the rally in the sixth inning when she homered to center field, which also brought home
Cecelia Tennessee. In the same inning,
Sierra Smith would tie the game at 3-3 with a solo home run to left field.
The Golden Tigers took its first lead of the game when Smith singled to left field and scored on a fielding error. Dumas hit her second homer of the afternoon in the seventh inning which gave TU its biggest lead of the day at 5-3. With the game tied at 5-5,
Jasmyne Lawrence belted a two-run homer to left-center that also scored
Sommer Fitzpatrick putting her team back on top 7-5. The Dragons tacked on another run in the bottom of the eighth rounding out the scoring at 7-6.
TU has now won six out of its eight last games.
Tuskegee opens a three-game series with Miles College Saturday with a doubleheader that starts at 1 p.m. The series concludes Sunday with a single contest that also gets underway at 1 p.m.
