The Tuskegee University softball team dropped the first two games of a three-game series with Spring Hill College Saturday afternoon at the TU Softball Field. The Golden Tigers suffered a 14-3 loss in game one and the final was 12-3 in game two.
The Badgers scored the first nine runs of the contest in game one before TU was able to cross the plate. In the bottom of the third inning,
Daija Brown scored an unearned run to get the Golden Tigers on the board. In that same inning,
Chelsea Mowery doubled to right center, driving in
Sierra Smith and
Jasmyne Lawrence, making the score 9-3.
Spring Hill would plate five more runs to round out the scoring.
The Golden Tigers got off to a hot start in game two when
Sierra Smith flied out to center field allowing Lawrence to score taking a 1-0 in the opening inning. In the third, Lawrence flied out to left field, but the play drove in
Daija Brown.
SHC scored eight unanswered runs until the fifth inning when Lawrence hit an RBI double, scoring
Roneshia Rudolph.
Both teams will close out the series tomorrow at 12 p.m. Admission into the TU Softball Field is free
