Softball splits a pair of games at SIAC Crossover on day two

The Tuskegee University softball team split a pair of games Friday afternoon on day two of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Crossover from Jasper (Ala.). The Golden Tigers dropped a 3-1 heartbreaker against Fort Valley State but would later defeat Clark Atlanta 9-4.

In game two, The Golden Tigers trailed the Panthers 3-2 in the bottom of the 5th inning when Chelsea Mowery hit a two RBI single to center field that scored Sierra Smith and Cecelia Tennessee. This opened the flood gates by TU who went on to score six runs in all during that inning. 

Mowery was a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and a run scored. Smith was 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored and one RBI. Kyah Dumas and Jasmine Howard each earned a pair of RBI in game two,

Ashley Tyler earned her first win of the season. She pitched the entire game and struck out six batters. Tyler allowed nine runs on ten hits. 

In game one against Fort Valley State with game tied at 1-1, scored two unearned runs to take a 3-1 lead. Kyah Dumas and Jasmyne Lawrence notched the only two hits in the game with Lawrence also earning the team's only run scored and RBI.

Chelsea Mowery picked up the loss for TU allowing three run on five hits in six innings of action.
