Taylor Miller and Aexus Shirrells scored 12 points apiece to lead the Tuskegee University women's basketball team past Miles College 53-42 Thursday evening in Fairfield, Ala. This marked game one of two that is set to take place between the two schools over the next two days in SIAC Rivarly Week action.
The Golden Tigers led the Golden Bear 38-35 with 7:35 left to play when TU went on a 13-4 run capped off by a layup by
Shelle Daniels over the next six minutes.
Cheyenne Williams scored seven points to go along with five rebounds while Daniels chipped in six points and pulled in four rebounds for TU. Taylor Terry led Miles with 12 points.
The Golden Tigers made their biggest impact on the defensive end as the Golden Bears did not make a single three pointer. They were held to 0-of-13 on the evening from beyond the arc. Two of the four quarters Miles was held below double figures.
