Tuskegee had a chance to force overtime with four seconds left but
Travis Flagg missed his second of two free throw attempts and Miles College escaped with a 61-59 win from Fairfield, Ala. Robert Jones made a pair of free throws for the Golden Bears with two seconds forcing a half court prayer that bounced high off the glass, falling no good as time expired by
Cam Grepke.
The Golden Bears led by 12 points 52-40 with 6:06 left in the game before narrowing its deficit down to one point with 10 seconds remaining after a three pointer from
James Eads. After Shelton Wright missed his second attempt of one and one, Flagg raced down the floor and was only able to convert one out of two from the charity stripe.
James Eads led TU with 17 points connecting on 5-of-9 from three point range.
Myles Thomas added 16b points making a trio of three pointers. Eads also paced the team with seven rebounds. Flagg poured in 14 points for the Golden Tigers. Carl Garcia led all scorers with 21 points.
With 5:44 left to play in the first half, TU led 19-18 before the Golden Bears went on a 13-3 run capped off by a Sheldon Wright three pointer at the 2:41 mark. Miles would take a 33-21 advantage into halftime.
