The Tuskegee University women's basketball team led by as many as 15 points but was outscored in the fourth quarter 24-14 to allow a come from behind win for LeMoyne Owen College Monday evening in Memphis, Tenn. 67-60. TU scored 40 points in the first two periods, but was held to a total of 20 points in the second half.
The Golden Tigers only had two players to score in double figures.
Taylor Miller paced the team with 14 points while
Alexus Shirrells added 10 points to ago along with four assists.
Ashiala Jackson and
Cheyenne Williams both contributed 8 points apiece.
Asha Stegall was a perfect 3-of-3 from the field scoring seven points and pulling down four rebounds off the bench.
TU leaves the state of Tennessee 0-2 after falling at Lane on Saturday. The Golden Tigers topped both teams earlier in the month at Chappie James.
Despite shooting 41 percent from the field, Skegee was only able to generate six points in the third period. They also turned the ball over a total for 24 times in which LOC scored 24 points as a result. TU outscored the Magicians in the paint 36-26 but LOC had more second chance points 11-4.
Tenesha Wright led all scorers with 22 points and 10 rebounds for LOC. Corlisha Howard came off of the bench to add 14 points
Tuskegee faces Miles College from Fairfield, Ala. in a Thursday evening battle for Rivarly Week. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
