GAME 1
A 10 fourth inning by West Alabama set the Tuskegee University softball team back in day two action of the Gulf Coast Invitational as the Golden Tigers dropped a 14-0 decision in just under five innings of play.
UWA's 14 runs came on 15 hits and three Tuskegee errors. Diekmann hit her first home run of the season.
Chrissy Tubbs went 2 for 3 with three runs scored,
Kendall Johnson went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and
Kylie Martin went 2 for 2 with two RBIs.
TU was only able to manufacture one hit.
Chelsea Mowery was 1-of-2 in the contest. She also struckout a pair of batters
Including the homerun, Diekmann went 1 for 2 with three RBI.
Shay Shepherd,
Ashley Smart,
Kierra Hague, and Nicole Buccierri all had one RBI each as well.
Freshman
Kamree Lay pitched 4.1 innings, allowing no runs on one hit. Lay struck out five through her innings of work.
Nora Keehn closed out the game, pitching the final two outs and allowing no hits.
GAME 2
In game two, the Golden Tigers gave up four runs in the first inning and four more in the second before being topped by West Florida Saturday afternoon 11-0 in four and a half innings of play.
Shambrinetta Adams was the only player from TU that earned a hit. She was 1-of-2.
Grace Gilbert picked up the win for UWF pitching two innings and striking out one batter.
Kyah Dumas was credited with the loss for the Golden Tigers, who allowed 11 runs on eight hits. Nine of those were earned runs.
The Golden Tigers will close out the invitational Sunday morning with a battle against Rollins College. First pitch is set for 9:00 a.m. Follow the game via
