The Tuskegee University softball team competed against the University of Montevallo in a mid-week contest Thursday in Montevallo (Ala.) at Orr Park, but fell short in its double-header with the Falcons.
GAME ONE
Score: Tuskegee 1, Montevallo 18

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Brianna Stella reached base in the bottom of the first inning after being hit by a pitch and stole second. Then while stealing third a fielding error on the third baseman allowed Stella to reach home, giving Montevallo a 1-0 lead.
- In the bottom of the first inning, Mariel Bertossi tripled to right centerfield to score Kelsey Vining. Bertossi scored a couple batters later to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead.
- In the second inning, the Falcons' bats came alive as Montevallo put up 12 runs to take a commanding 15-0 lead.
- Tuskegee's only run of the game came in the fourth inning when Roneshia Rudolph doubled to right field driving in Cecelia Tennessee.
- Montevallo plated three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to seal up the 18-1 victory.

Score: Tuskegee 3, Montevallo 16

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tuskegee got on the board first in the top of the third inning with a trio of runs that gave the Golden Tigers a 3-0 lead over the Falcons.
- Montevallo responded in the bottom of the third inning with nine runs in the frame.
- The Falcons plated seven more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it a 16-3 ball game.

Tuskegee will host its home opener in a double-header with Talladega College Saturday afternoon. First pitch from the TU Softball Field is set for 12:00 p.m.
