Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Central State escapes with 74-73 win over Tuskegee

Sterling Gilmore made a pair of free throws with 1.5 seconds left and Central State handed the Tuskegee University men's basketball team a 74-73 defeat Saturday afternoon from Chappie James Arena Saturday afternoon.  Cam Grepke's jump shot on the ensuing possession fell no good as time expired giving the Mauraders the season series.

The Golden Tigers trailed by as many as 11 points (15-4) with 12:06 left in first half. Daniel Roach made a three pointer that provided the spark TU needed, which would eventually lead to the Golden Tigers playing to a 31-31 tie at the end of the first half.

Travis Flagg scored 10 of his 20 points before the break on 7-of-12 shooting including a trio of three pointers made. James Eads and Myles Thomas scored 15 and 14 points respectively. Roach added nine points on the evening.

In a game that featured 12 lead changes and nine ties, a jumper by Flagg gave TU its first lead of the game on the first possession of the second half at 33-31. The Golden Tigers only led 13:27 seconds of the game versus the Mauraders that led over 20 minutes of the contest.

CSU shot a 52.2 percent from the field and was led by Chris Scott who scored a game high 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Scott also hauled in nine rebounds.

Tuskegee returns home Monday evening for a double-header with Kentucky State that starts at 5:30 p.m.  Fans are encouraged to wear crimson on Senior night in which TU Athletics will recognize its senior basketball players and cheerleaders.
