Daniel Roach made five three pointers Wednesday afternoon to help lead the Tuskegee University men's basketball team to a 63-52 win on the road over Shorter University inside of the Winthrop-King Centre. The Golden Tigers head into the holiday break winners of six out of their last seven games.
Roach led the team in scoring wth 14 points on the day, but had some help from his teammates from the perimeter as the unit made a total of 10 three-pointers on 45.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc. The Golden Tigers made 45.3 percent of its field goals. Roach also hauled in nine rebounds.
Thomas Massey and
Myles Thomas both added eight points with Massey hauling in eight boards.
Joshua Culver would produce seven points and seven rebounds.
TU scored 13 of its 63 points off turnovers while also outscoring its opponent, 32-23 on the bench. Five different players from TU made at least one three pointer.
Defensively, TU made its presence felt, allowing the Falcons to only shoot 26 percent from the field in the first half and 16 percent from three-point range The Golden Tigers scored a 30 point first half compared to 16 points from Shorter.
At 6-5 overall and 3-1 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, Skegee is above .500 during the break for the first time in over six seasons.
Tuskegee will take the remainder of the holiday break off before resuming play with a Shorter University rematch that is set for 7 p.m. at Tuskegee on Jan. 2.
