Golden Tigers return to action, thumps Shorter University

The  Tuskegee University men's basketball team started off the New Year victorious with 66-50 win over Shorter University Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference battle hosted at Booker T. Washington High Shcool in Tuskegee, Ala.  The Golden Tigers played away from home  while floor renovations continue inside of Chappie James Arena.

TU held a 33 -21 lead at the end of the first half and never looked back. Riley Hamilton paced the Golden Tigers with 14 points and assisted with his team continuing to poor things on as they also led all second half with zero lead changes. 

Hamilton 6-of-12 shooting from the field 12 with two assists and two steals. Daniel Roach shot 100% from the three point range going 4-of-4 on the night to go along with finishing with 13 points, two blocked shots.

Shorter took the lead early on in the first half, however, the Golden Tigers went on a run to get to a 10 point lead with their biggest lead being 16.

Cam Grepke would lead the team in assists with six while also contributing in the scoring category with 12 points and came away with three steals.

With this win, the Golden Tigers have now won four straight including the season sweep against Shorter.

TU will return to conference action Saturday in a doubleheader that feature the women against Benedict College. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. and the game can be seen live on the Tuskegee Digital Network.
