Alexis Carter scored a game-high 23 points along with 20 rebounds and the Tuskegee University women's basketball team earned its first conference win of the season defeating Clark Atlanta 81-76 from Epps Gymnasium in Atlanta, Ga. The win gets the Golden Tigers off to a (4-1, 1-0) start, their best in over six seasons.
The Golden Tigers got off to a quick first period start and held its largest lead of the game when Carter's back-to-back layups put the team up 20-6 at the 1:43 mark. The second period would be the only one in which TU got outscored (21-17).
Skegee dominated on the boards hauling in 55 rebounds to Clark's 33. In fact, the team nearly had three players to earn double-doubles with
Jade Wilson scoring 18 points and seven rebounds and
Shelle Daniels adding 10 points and 10 boards of her own.
Normesha Pitts came off the bench to score nine points including three-three pointers.
Eleana Daniels also added nine points while
India Blakely chipped in six points and nine assists.
The Golden Tigers held an advantage in two major categories outscoring its opponent 27-18 in second chance points and again in points in the paint (30-20).
TU returns home to host Georgia Southwestern State for a start time fo 5:30 p.m. Live video coverage on the
