James Eads scored 15 of his 21 points in the first half and the Tuskegee University men's basketball team ran past Auburn-Montgomery (AUM) 77-68 Tuesday evening at Chappie James Arena in non-conference action. The win splits the season series for both teams.
The Golden Tigers shot a scorching 51.9 percent from the field and led 40-29 at the break.
Travis Flagg posted 21 points to go along with seven assists and seven rebounds on the evening.
Jaylan Shelton scored 11 points and hauled in six rebounds while
Myles Thomas added nine points.
Daniel Roach, who finished with 12 points nailed a three pointer at the 9:36 mark giving Tuskegee its largest lead of the evening at 50-33. Roach connected on three of the team's five baskets beyond the arc. The Suwanee, Georgia native also collected seven boards.
The Golden Tigers forced AUM into shooting only 20 percent from three point range on 5-of-24 shooting from long range. The Warhawks were led Reagan Eubanks who scored a game-high 26 points, but was only 1-of-6 from three point range.
When the two teams played back in November, TU led by as many as 14 points in the first half and had three score in double figures, but a pair of free throws with .3 seconds left lifted the Warhawks past the Golden Tigers in dramatic fashion 68-66. Tonight, Skegee never trailed.
Tuskegee travels to Tennessee and will face Lane College Saturday before ending the road swing at LeMoyne Owen next Monday.
