The Tuskegee University women's basketball team won its second consecutive game Monday night with a 66-59 win over Lane College at Chappie James Arena in Tuskegee, Ala. The back-to-back wins is the first of its kind this season.
In their first game without leading scorer
Jade Wilson, who did not play due to an injury, the Golden Tigers received a boost off the bench from freshman
Mya Parker when she scored 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting. The Indianapolis, Indiana native also made a trio of three-pointers on the evening.
Cheyenne Williams was an efficient 7-of-11 to lead TU in scoring with 15 points and six rebounds.
Tuskegee (4-12, 3-7), control the game from the opening tap and led Lane (3-16, 3-8) 18-6 at the end of the first period. The Golden Tigers saw its biggest lead at the 7:31 mark in the 3rd quarter up by 23 points. The Dragons were outscored on the bench 34-14 on the evening and was held to 11.8 percent shooting from three point range on 2-of-17 shooting.
Lena Yoonis also came off the bench to add nine points and pull down five rebounds while
Donshelle Daniels had another active night producing eight points, eight rebounds and three steals.
Rickera Martin paced Lane with a game high 18 points.
TU plays at Spring Hill College Saturday in a double-header with the men's team that starts at 2 p.m. from Mobile, Ala.
