The Tuskegee University volleyball team earned its first win of the season Friday morning defeating Paine College 3-1 on day two of the SIAC Crossover in Birmingham. The win inside the Birmingham CrossPlex also marked the first of the
Janay Yancey era, who is in her first season as head coach.
The Golden Tigers dropped the first set (25-20) before reeling off the next three (25-22, 25-21, 25-16). TU totaled twice as many kills as Paine racking up 42, while the Lions were held to 22. Tuskegee also finished with 39 assists to Paine's 17.
Takeba Dowden and
Kiara Hooks both led Tuskegee with nine kills each.
Cyrani Butler and
Brianna Fisher finished with 18 assists 17 assists respectively.
Avery Brown (8) and Zahria Radford (7) led TU in the digs category.
