Tigerettes run past Miles on the road

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Rachel Brownlee led Tuskegee to a road victory over Miles College, pacing three players in double figures, in a 70-65 victory on Saturday.

Tuskegee, who picked up their third straight victory, was paced by Brownlee with 19 points, while Asha Stegall added 12 and Jade Wilson 10 in the victory. The Tigerettes had a good shooting night as they had 40.7 (24-of- 59) shooting from the field and 22.9 (2-of-9) from beyond the arc. They also had a good evening at the free throw line shooting 66.7% (20-of-30).

In the early stages of the first quarter the Tigerettes made an early mark on the game by going on a 7-0 run to start over the Lady Golden Bears. The Tigerettes would dominate the first quarter as they were led by Cheyanne Williams, Stegall, Taylor Miller and Brownlee who scored 15 of 17 of the Tigerettes points in the first quarter.

As the second quarter began play the Tigerettes would continue to provide their dominance from thevfirst quarter. The Tigerettes would increase their lead by much as 13 points after a jumper was scoredvby Brownlee with 7:41 remaining 23-10.

As the game resumed play in the second half the Tigerettes never looked back, as they would contain the lead for the remainder of the game despite a late run by the Lady Golden Bears in the final three minutes of the game.

The Tigerettes have now picked up their ninth game of the season and their third straight victory in SIAC conference play. Now the Tigerettes have three conference games left and are currently the sixth in the SIAC West.

The next Tigerettes match will be a late non-conference game against Auburn Montgomery on Tuesday February 7th at Chappie James Arena at 5:30 pm.
