After losing an 18 point first half lead, the Tuskegee University women's basketball team held on for a 59-51 win over Fort Valley State University, earning their first conference victory of the season on the road.  The win also marked the first road win of the year.
With 3:25 left to play and the game tied at 47-47, Jade Wilson made back-to-back jumpshots giving Tuskegee (2-8, 1-2) a commanding 51-47 lead, one they would not relinquish for the remainder of the contest leaving FVSU winless on the season at (0-13, 0-4).
Led by Taylor Miller's 13 points off the bench and trio of three pointers, TU scored the game's first nine points and claimed a 21-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. The five points allowed ended up being a season-high for the least amount of points allowed in a quarter this season for TU.
FVSU outscored the Golden Tigers in the second quarter 16-8 narrowing their deficit to 29-21 at halftime.  Alicia Franklin led all scorers with 19 points on the afternoon on 5-of-15 shooting from the field.  Nola Carter also notched double figures with 15 points.
Wilson added another double-double to her career with 12 points and 11 rebounds for TU. Alexus Shirrels chipped in seven points including a clutch second half three point late in the contest.
The Golden Tigers will face UAB after Christmas on Dec. 30. Tip off is set for 1:00 p.m. in Birmingham
