MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Jade Wilson scored eight of her 16 points in the first half on 4-of-6 shooting from the field and the Tuskegee University women's basketball team earned a 59-57 come from behind victory of Auburn-Montgomery (AUM) Tuesday evening at the AUM Athletic Complex.
Trailing AUM (3-2) 26-18 in the second quarter, Tuskegee (1-3) went on an 11-1 run to tie the game at 27-27. A pair of layups by Kyla Rooks and Aaliyah Milord gave the Warhawks a two point lead at the break 31-27.
Ashiala Jackson came off of the bench for TU and scored 11 points with seven rebounds .Teja Finley also was in double figures with 10 points of her own. The Golden Tigers scored 32 points in the paint holding AUM to only 18. The Golden Tigers scored 29 points off the bench.
With 4:44 left to play,
Cheyenne Williams made two free throws to bring the Golden Tigers to within one point, 49-48. Two free throws later Wilson made two more from the strip giving TU its first lead 50-49 with 3:48 remaining.
With 41 seconds left and the game tied at 54-54, Mya Parker's three point attempt fell in the hands of Wilson, who converted a layup allowing TU to regain the lead at 56-54. On the ensuing possession, Rooks missed a free throw but got her on rebound laying it back in and tied the game at 56-56.
With an assist from Parker, Wilson who also finished with eight rebounds once again came through with another layup giving TU the lead for good 58-56. One free throw made by each team would end up being the final 59-57.
