TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Tuskegee University won their second consecutive contest with a 71-66 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) game Saturday afternoon.
Five Tigerettes finished in double figures on the afternoon which included
Jade Wilson, who finished with a season high of 16 points.
Asha Stegall added 12, while
Rachel Brownlee,
Lena Yoonis and
Taylor Miller each finished with 10 in the win..
For most of the game, the Tigerettes battled with keeping the lead. In the first quarter they finished only trailing by one point after a free throw was made by Briunca Caldwell to make it 14-13 As the Tigerettes began the second quarter a burst of energy as they managed to tie the game early in the second 20-20 following a fast break layup by
Asha Stegall. The Tigerettes would go on to finish the half with a five point lead 33-28 over Fort Valley
As the game resumed play in the second half the Tigerettes battled back and forth with the Wildcats as they continued to switch the lead. Eventually the Wildcats had an answer of their own towards the end of the quarter with a five point burst by Daknequa White scoring two of her 18 points she had on the afternoon. The Tigerettes bounced back as the quarter came to a close they held a narrow one point lead following a dazzling pass by
Taylor Miller to
Jade Wilson 53-52
Tuskegee returns to action Monday night against Albany State with tip set for 5:30 pm at Chappie James Arena.
