TUSKEGEE, Ala. - Austin Cherry led Tuskegee with 18 points, but it wasn't enough Tuskegee fell to Fort Valley Wildcats 65-52 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) action Saturday afternoon.
Tuskegee (5-15, 4-7 SIAC) finished the night shooting 30.2 (16-of-53) percent from the floor and 30.0 (6-of-20) from beyond the arc. They also finished the night shooting 70.0 (14-of-20) percent from the free throw line, and turned the ball over 12 times on Saturday afternoon.
Despite the loss, Cherry had his second-best scoring night of the year shooting 45.0 (5-of-11) from the field which was also paired up with two steals.
Travis Flagg was the only other player in double figures on the afternoon with his 11 points
However, Fort Valley (9-11, 7-4 SIAC), who led by as many as 22 late in the second half, had a trio of players score in double figures. The trio of Jalen Crawford , Denard Williams and James Barnes combined for 45 of 65 points scored on Saturday as the team shot an astonishing 47.3 (26-of-55) percent from the field and 40.0 (4-10) from beyond the arc.
The Goldens Tiger return to action Monday against SIAC opponent Albany State on Monday at 7:30 pm at Chappie James Arena.
