TUSKEGEE, Ala. - Joshua Culver poured in a season-high, but it wasn't enough as Tuskegee University fell to Albany State University 57-56 Monday in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) game at Chappie James Arena.
Joshua Culver led Tuskegee (5-16, 4-8 SIAC) with 19 points, while the Golden Tigers finished the night shooting 36.8 (21-of-57) percent from the floor and 30.0 (6-of-20) from beyond the arc. They also finished the night shooting just 20.0 (4-of-20) percent from the free throw line, and turned the ball over just seven times. The Golden Tigers also managed to win the battle on the boards out rebounding Albany State 43-39.
Elijah McMillian was the only other player in double figures on the night for Tuskegee with his 10 points
However Albany State (10-12, 4-7 SIAC), who held as large a lead as 11 points late in the first half held the lead for just one minute of the game. The trio of Michael Green , Devontay Ward and Khaliq Hughes combined for 33 of 57 points scored for the Golden Rams as the team shot 47.3 (21-of-44) percent from the field and just 30.0 (3-10) from beyond the arc.
Tuskegee had a chance to take the lead late following a missed jumper by Michael Green as they advanced the ball pass half court they proceeded to call a timeout. Unfortunately they were unable to get a shot off after the timeout.
The Golden Tigers return to action Saturday against SIAC opponent Miles College on the road with tip at 3:00 pm.
