MEMPHIS, Tenn. | Cheyanne Williams posted a double-double and led two Tuskegee University women's basketball players in double figures but it wasn't enough as the Tigerettes fell to LeMoyne-Owen in conference play 61-50.
Williams finished the night with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while
Jade Wilson finished with 13 points off the bench for Tuskegee (7-12, 2-7 SIAC). The Tigerettes finished the night shooting 29.2 (19-of-65) percent from the floor and just 6.7 (1-of-15) percent from beyond the arc.
Tuskegee forced 27 turnovers in the loss, and outscored the LeMoyne-Owen bench 20-7 in the loss.
Meanwhile, Teresa Mays led LeMoyne-Owen (3-19, 3-7 SIAC) with 26 points as she hit on 10-of-11 from the free throw line. She was joined in double figures by Corlishia Howard with 10 points in the win.
LeMoyne-Owen shot 44.1 (15-of-34) percent from the floor, including 43.8 (7-of-16) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 72.7 (24-of-33) percent from the free throw line, while winning the rebounding battle 37-34.
Tuskegee returns to action Saturday, hosting Fort Valley State at Chappie James Arena. The game tips at 1 pm, and can be seen on the Tuskegee Digital Network.
