Tigerettes host Spring Hill Thursday at Chappie James

Tuskegee and Spring Hill meet for just the second time in school history

TUSKEGEE, Ala. | The Tuskegee University women's basketball team looks to end a three-game losing streak when they hit the floor Thursday night against Spring Hill College in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) action.

Tip is set for 5:30 pm inside Chappie James Arena, and the game can be seen on the Tuskegee Digital Network.

Tuskegee (5-8, 1-3 SIAC) is coming off of a 72-70 overtime loss to Paine College in their last outing, the fourth overtime game of the season for Tuskegee and just their first loss in such games. In the contest, senior Rachel Brownlee led Tuskegee with 20 points, five rebounds and five assists. Freshman Taylor Miller added 19 points, while Cheyanne Williams finished with 11 points and six rebounds.

Brownlee is among the conference leaders in scoring and leads Tuskegee averaging 18.4 points on the season. The senior has scored in double figures in 37 of the team's 39 games, after having a streak of 36 consecutive games in double figures snapped against Benedict last week. She currently sits third in the conference in scoring through 13 games.

Meanwhile, Miller is second on the team in scoring at 11.3 points per game and is among the conference leaders in three-pointers attempted as she is shooting 26.5 (26-of-98) percent from beyond the arc.

The Tigerettes have five players averaging 4.7 or more rebounds this season, led by Brownlee at 6.3 per game. Tuskegee is currently sixth in the conference in scoring offense, averaging 67.6 points per game through 13 games; while their opponent on Thursday, Spring Hill (6-5, 2-1 SIAC) allows 62.9 points per game.

The two teams have met just once since 2012-13, with Spring Hill winning last season 65-38; a game in which Brownlee was the lone player in double figures for Tuskegee with 14 points.
