SIAC announces All-Academic teams for 2015-16

Adrienne Eaddy was one of seven student-athletes in the conference named with a 4.0 GPA

ATLANTA | Four hundred and forty-seven student-athletes were named to the Commissioner's All-Academic Team for maintaining at least a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average throughout the 2015-16 academic year.
 
One hundred and nine student-athletes were placed on the All-Academic Team in their respective sport. Student-athletes with a 3.2 or higher were considered for All-Academic Team honors. The number of student-athletes selected in each sport is determined by the number of positions usually involved in that sport.
 
"We are excited to recognize and congratulate the academic achievements of our student-athletes," said Commissioner Gregory Moore. "The outstanding athletic and academic standard of excellence maintained by these young women and men is a testament to both their work ethic and dedication. I'd also like to recognize the many administrators, academic support staff, coaches, and parents throughout the SIAC for their contributions to the academic success of these student-athletes."
 
Spring Hill College led all Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) institutions by capturing five team academic awards in women's cross country, women's basketball, men's basketball, men's track and field, and men's golf. Benedict was awarded three team awards in men's tennis, women's tennis, women's track and field.
 
Claflin won a pair of awards in women's basketball and softball while Tuskegee (football) and Morehouse (baseball) each earned one award.
 
Tuskegee was represented by Kenneth Dickerson (Mechanical Engineering) and Tyrez McCain (Mechanical Engineering) in football, while the team finished the year with a 3.44 grade point average – highest among any other football team in the conference
 
David Dixon (Electrical Engineering) represented men's cross country, while Laura Huckleby (Accounting) was named to the volleyball all-academic team. The Golden Tigers were also represented in men's basketball with Joel Nurridin (Sales and Marketing) earning the honors.
 
Tuskegee had four representatives Sacha Bowen (Business) earning honors on the women's side; while Frederick Higgins (Mechanical Engineering), David Dixon (Electrical Engineering) and Amari Carter (Biology) earning all-academic honors.
 
A pair of student-athletes earned the honors on the diamond with Adrienne Eaddy (Business Administration) earning softball honors, and Christopher Emerson (Electrical Engineering) earning baseball all-academic honors.
