#8 :: Tuskegee decorates the medal stand at the SIAC Championships

The Tuskegee University track and field programs finished off the SIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships with several top three finishes, decorating the medal stand.

Freshman Mohamed Eljack, a SIAC All-Conference selection prior to the meet, captured gold and the SIAC Championship in the pole vault. Eljack finished with a height of 3.20 meters, more than 0.15 meters clear of the conference runner-up.

Eljack was not the lone Golden Tiger to make it to the medal stand on day two of the championships. Senior Greg Coleman finished third in the two-day Decathlon with 5,124 points. He finished 132 points from second place, and just 482 points from the title.

On the opening day of the meet Vincent Williams, who entered the meet ranked in the top five in the conference in the shot put made his way to the medal stand with a third place finish on the day. It was the sixth time this season that the freshman has finished in the top three in the event, throwing a distance of 13.61 meters on Thursday - just short of his personal best of the season at 13.76 meters.

After finishing fifth in prelims, Darvelle Smith reached the medal stand in the 110m hurdles with a third place finish on the final day of the meet. Smith finished with a time of 15.69 seconds, 0.03 seconds better than his time in the prelims to reach the podium.

Several other student-athletes and relay teams scored points for the men and women during the three day event.
