TUSKEGEE, Ala. | The Tuskegee University softball team battled back from an opening game loss to Flagler, falling by a single run in the nightcap to visiting Flagler College in non-conference action at Tuskegee Sunday afternoon.
Flagler won the opener 13-0, before Tuskegee dropped a 5-4 decision in the nightcap.
Tuskegee (0-17) jumped on top in game two, scoring two runs in the first inning when freshman
Kaylin Finch drilled her second homerun of the season over the left centerfield fence for a 2-1 lead.
Flagler scored a single run in the top of the second to tie the game, before Tuskegee went back ahead in the bottom half of the inning.

Haley Plato caused havoc on the infield when her bunt attempt went into the air and found itself between the mound and first base. The errant throw allowed Williams to score and put Tuskegee ahead 3-2.
Flagler (14-9) was able to get two in the fourth, and a single run in the fifth. The run in the fifth came via a solo homerun, which proved to be the different in the game.
In the bottom of the sixth, Tuskegee got a solo homerun from Williams – her second of the season – to trim the deficit to 5-4. They had their chanced in the bottom half of the seventh when Miller led off with a single up the middle, but the game ended on a double play on a lineout to centerfield.
Morgan Burrell (0-2) was the hard-luck loser for Tuskegee as she went seven innings, allowing just five runs (four earned) off of 12 hits with a strikeout.
In the first game, Flagler used a four-run fourth and seven-run seventh to run away from Tuskegee.
Karisa Foye (0-3) suffered the loss for the Lady Golden Tigers, working 3.1 innings and allowing five runs off of seven hits.
After a tough start to the season, with a tough schedule, the Lady Golden Tigers open conference play next weekend at Stillman College.
