TUSKEGEE, Ala. | The Tuskegee University men's basketball team fell short in their home finale against West Division champion, Stillman College, falling to the Tigers 75-61 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
Elijah McMillan led Tuskegee (13-11, 9-8 SIAC) with 17 points, while
Joshua Culver added 11 in the loss for the Golden Tigers. Tuskegee finished the night shooting 32.8 (19-of-58) percent from the floor and 25.0 (6-of-24) percent from beyond the arc.
Meanwhile, Ronald Singleton led Stillman with 25 points and nine rebounds. Rodnerius Lewis added 17 points for Stillman, who finished the night shooting 46 (23-of-50) percent from the floor and 30 (3-of-10) percent from beyond the arc.
Stillman was able to put the game out of reach as they outscored Tuskegee 18-5 over a seven-minute span, and holding the Golden Tigers without a field goal during that stretch. The Golden Tigers were able to close to within two at 38-36 when
Elijah McMillan knocked down a three-pointer with 15:59 to play in the game.
From there, Stillman went on the run which including a span of eight consecutive points to stretch the lead to 50-38, before
Austin Cherry knocked down three free throws to close the gap to 50-41. Stillman stretched the lead back to 15 until
James Vinson ended the field goal drought with a dunk with just over seven minutes to play in the game, and closed the deficit to 58-45.
Tuskegee returns to action Monday night on the road, facing Miles College at Bill Harris Arena. Tip is set for 7:30 pm.
