BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Tuskegee University Golden Tigers held the lead for most of the game until a late charge by Miles College, enabling the Golden Bears to pull out a 59-56 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory in the regular season finale.
Daniel Roach led Tuskegee (13-12, 9-9 SIAC) with 12 points off the bench, while
Elijah McMillan and
James Eads each added 10 in the loss. The Golden Tigers finished the night shooting 42 (21-of-50) percent from the floor and 30.8 (8-of-26) percent from beyond the arc.
They also shot 75 (6-of-8) percent from the free throw line, while forcing 13 turnovers.
Miles was led by Joshua Samuels and Joshua Johnson with 11 points each, while shooting 35.8 (19-of-53) percent from the floor and 31.3 (5-of-16) percent from beyond the arc.
The game saw five lead changes and two times it was tied, including late in the contest when Miles took the second lead of the game at 51-50 after Tuskegee led for much of the contest.
The preliminary bracket looks as if Tuskegee will be the fifth seed in the West Division and face Clark Atlanta at 9:15 pm next Monday night in the opening round of the SIAC Tournament at Bill Harris Arena.
