TUSKEGEE, Ala. | The Tuskegee University women's basketball team, fresh off of their overtime road victory on Wednesday, continue their five-game road streak as they travel down Interstate-85 to Montgomery to take on the Warhawks of Auburn Montgomery Friday night.
Tuskegee (3-5) ended a three-game losing streak against Georgia College Wednesday night with a 65-62 overtime victory highlighted by a pair of buzzer-beating shots. Junior
Cheyanne Williams sent the game into overtime with a shot as the buzzer went off at the end of regulation, and freshman
Taylor Miller handed the Tigerettes the victory with a three-pointer with less than five seconds to play.
The Tigerettes are 2-2 on the road this season, with both wins coming in overtime in the state of Georgia.
Senior
Rachel Brownlee leads the charge for Tuskegee this season, averaging 19.0 points per game through eight games this season. The senior has scored in double figures in each of the team's contests (including the two exhibition contests) to run her streak to 33 consecutive games in double figures dating back to last November, and scored her 1000th career point as a member of the Tuskegee basketball program earlier this season.
Miller is second on the team in scoring at 11.9 points per game, and is among the leaders in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in three-point field goal attempts with 55. Between she, and junior
Jamese Abney, the duo have combined for 104 three-point attempts, while the team has attempted 139 total.
Ashiala Jackson, who has not played since mid-November, leads a contingent of six players who are averaging four-plus rebounds per game this season. The freshman is averaging 6.3 rebounds per game, while Brownlee and Williams each average 5.8 per game.
Jade Wilson, who is averaging 4.9 points per game off the bench, is averaging 4.9 rebounds per game; while
Lena Yoonis - who has been inserted into the starting lineup - is averaging 4.4 rebounds per game.
Teja Finley comes off the bench for the Tigerettes to average 6.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
The contest between Tuskegee and Auburn Montgomery (1-6) can be heard on the Tuskegee Digital Network, with pregame starting at 5:15 pm from the Physical Education Complex on the east Montgomery campus.
