Tigerettes face Georgia College on road Wednesday

Tuskegee is looking to end an early season three-game losing streak

TUSKEGEE, Ala. | The Tuskegee University women's basketball team looks to end an early season three-game losing streak, hitting the road Wednesday to face an undefeated Georgia College team.

Tip is set for 5:00 pm (est) and can be heard on the Tuskegee Digital Network.

Tuskegee (2-5) and Georgia College (4-0) will meet for the first and only time this season, and for the second time in two years. The two met last season in Tuskegee, with Georgia College coming away with 60-46 victory in mid-November.

The Tigerettes come into the contest after a pair of losses on the road at the Pak-A-Sak WT Thanksgiving Classic, including a close game against third-ranked West Texas A&M - a game in which the Tigerettes led by 13 at the end of the first quarter. They opened the season splitting their first four contests - with wins over UAH and West Georgia - before hitting the modest three-game losing streak. Meanwhile, Georgia College comes into the contest on a four-game winning streak with games that included opponents for Tuskegee later in the season - AUM, Albany State and Clark Atlanta.

Senior Rachel Brownlee, who hit her 1000th career point early this season against Lynn, leads Tuskegee in scoring by averaging 19.3 points per game through seven games this season. The senior has scored in double figures in each of those games - raising her streak to 32 (counting a pair of exhibition games) consecutive games in double figures - and has scored 20 or more points in four of the seven games this season, including a career-high 28 against UAH. Brownlee is coming off of a tournament in West Texas in which she averaged 19 points and five rebounds per game in two games.

She is joined in double figures by freshman Taylor Miller 11.7 points per game, and is one of the conference leaders in three-point field goals attempted with 50. The freshman is also averaging 1.9 assists per game and has played multiple positions on the floor. Although she is not in double figures, junior Jamese Abney has come off the bench to average 9.5 points per game for the Tigerettes this season.

Ashiala Jackson, who is currently injured, leads all Tigerettes in rebounding at 6.3 rebounds per game and is one of two players at six-plus rebounds per game game - Brownlee is the other at 6.0 per game. Junior Cheyanne Williams is also among the team leaders in rebounding at 5.7 rebounds per game this season, and is also averaging 1.4 blocks per game through the first seven games. Junior Jad Wilson is averaging 4.6 rebounds per game, while freshman Lena Yoonis is at 4.2 and freshman Teja Finley has grabbed an average of 4.1 rebounds per game this season.
