Tigerettes head west for Thanksgiving

Tuskegee will face West Texas A&M Friday, Cameron on Saturday

CANYON, Texas | The Tuskegee University women's basketball traveled west this weekend for Thanksgiving to take part in the Pak-A-Sak WT Thanksgiving Classic hosted by West Texas A&M. The tournament begins on Friday with the Tigerettes facing the host team - West Texas A&M - and concludes on Saturday against Cameron.

Tuskegee (2-3) looks to get back into the win column after a four-point loss to Lynn University on Tuesday night, despite senior Rachel Brownlee scoring her 1000th career point in the contest. Brownlee, who was selected as the SIAC Preseason Player of the Year, continued her streak of consecutive games in double figures and extended it to 30 in the loss to Lynn. She currently averages 19.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season, and is also averaging three assists and 2.8 steals per game.

Freshman Taylor Miller is second on the team in scoring at 11.2 points per game this season, and is also averaging 2.4 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game in her first five collegiate games. She has played multiple positions on the floor for the Tigerettes this year, and has connected on 80 (8-of-10) percent of free throws.

Jamese Abney is just outside the double figure range through the first five games this season for Tuskegee, averaging 9.8 points per game, and is shooting 84.6 (11-of-13) percent from the free throw line.

Cheyanne Williams leads five players with at least four rebounds per game for the Tigerettes this season, pulling down 6.6 per game including 11 offensive rebound. Following Williams and Brownlee in rebounding this season is freshman Ashiala Jackson at 6.3 per game, while Kayla Howard is averaging 5.5 for the Tigerettes.

Tuskegee, who has not lost back-to-back games this season, will look to their pace this weekend as they average 68.2 points per game. They have scored 70 or more points twice season, and will look to push the ball every chance they get with a deep bench in which 12 players have seen action.

Meanwhile, Sasha Watson leads a balanced West Texas A&M attack averaging 13 points per game, while Alie Decker and Maddison Wild are each averaging 11 per game.

The game tips at 5:00 pm at the First United Bank Center with live stats, video and audio being provided by West Texas A&M University.
