TUSKEGEE, Ala. | Tuskegee University senior
Rachel Brownlee scored her 1000th career point Tuesday night against Lynn University, but it wasn't enough as the Tigerettes fell 78-74 in non-conference action.
Brownlee didn't waste any time hitting the mark, hitting her first basket within the first few seconds to join the exclusive club. Not only did she hit the mark, but she extended her double-digit scoring streak to 31 as she poured in a team-high 20 points. She also grabbed eight rebounds, dished out seven assists and recorded three steals.
Jade Wilson added 13 points off the bench (on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor), while
Taylor Miller added 12.
The Tigerettes shot 42.9 (30-of-70) percent from the floor, while hitting on 46.7 (7-of-15) percent from beyond the arc. They also hit 77.8 (7-of-9) percent from the free throw line, while forcing 20 turnovers.
Paola Vazquez led Lynn (4-2) with a game-high 26 points, while Marta Oledzka added 12 and Shaunt'e Tucker 11.
Tuskegee returns to action in the WT Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic against West Texas A&M on Friday.
