Eads scores career-high 31 points in loss Tuesday night

Sophomore was perfect from the free throw line in loss

MONTEVALLO, Ala. | James Eads scored a career-high on Tuesday night, but it wasn't enough as Montevallo was able to come from behind to defeat the Golden Tigers 73-64 in non-conference action at Trustmark Arena.
 
Eads scored a career-high 31 points on 9-of-21 shooting from the floor, and was perfect from the free throw line as he hit all 11 of his attempts. Austin Cherry also finished in double figures for Tuskegee (0-2) with 10 points and five rebounds.
 
Tuskegee shot 40.4 (21-of-52) percent from the floor and 42.9 (6-of-14) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 84.2 (16-of-19) percent from the free throw line in the loss.
 
Javonte Douglas paced Montevallo (2-0) with 22 points and 14 rebounds, while Jamaar Taylor added 19. Tony Bagtas also got into double figures with 15 on the night for the Falcons who shot 40.4 (23-of-57) percent from the floor, and 57.1 (4-of-7) from beyond the arc. The Falcons also shot 71.9 (23-of-23) percent from the free throw line, while grabbing 38 rebounds.

Tuskegee led most of the contest, leading by 11 in the second half, before Montevallo was able to chip away at the lead. The Falcons were able to take the lead after holding Tuskegee without a basket in the final 62 seconds of the game, putting the game away at the free throw line.
Tuskegee returns to action Saturday against Georgia College, with tip set for 3:30 pm inside Chappie James Arena.
