The 2014-15 athletic year for Tuskegee University ended as another successful campaign for all sports, claiming two conference titles and participating in the postseason in football and softball. The athletic communications office at Tuskegee, along with the help of fans and alumni from the university, have put together a list of the top moments from the past year. Over the next three weeks, the highlights from the year will be posted on GoldenTigerSports.com, with the top moment being revealed on July 31.
Top-10 Tuskegee Highlights from 2014-15#4 :: Tuskegee wins Western Division with victory over MilesStory of courtesy of Cheryl Wray (al.com)FAIRFIELD, Ala. | The Tuskegee Golden Tigers had very specific goals in mind as they entered Saturday's pivotal matchup against Miles: win, and make it to the championship.
Tuskegee met its goal, and with a 48-33 win clinched a spot in the SIAC championship game next Saturday against Albany State.
Tuskegee (8-2, 7-0) remained unbeaten in conference play and won the conference's western division in a game that saw the Golden Tigers have to rally from a 24-13 deficit at halftime.
Hoderick Lowe was the player of the game, as the Tuskegee running back rushed for 150 yards, returned a kickoff for 92 yards and scored two touchdowns when they were needed the most.
Trevor Wylie started the scoring with a 36-yard field goal for Tuskegee, followed by an eight-yard touchdown pass from Demetric Price to Antonio Pitts for Miles.
Wylie scored again with a 34-yard field goal, while Miles' Jaquan Morris answered with his own 31-yarder to start the second quarter.
Lowe scored his first touchdown of the night on a 43-yard dash, but Tuskegee was stalled after the score. Miles' Xavier Bacon scored on a two-yard touchdown run and Travis Lee returned an interception for 38 yards for a touchdown.
Coming out of halftime, Tuskegee set to battle back and got its spark from Lowe's exciting kickoff return.
Lowe added his 48-yard touchdown scamper to start the fourth quarter, with
Michael J. Thornton adding a two-yard rush for a two-point conversion. Miles responded with a seven-yard run by Price, but missed the point after.
Thornton scored the final two touchdowns for the Golden Tigers with a 33-yard run and a one-yarder.
