Tuskegee’s Mikael King Jr. Earns HBCU All-American Honors, Selected for Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl

TUSKEGEE, Ala. — Tuskegee senior defensive back Mikael King Jr. has added multiple postseason honors to his exceptional 2025 campaign, highlighted by his selection as an Honorable Mention HBCU All-American and his invitation to compete in the Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl, which will be broadcast nationally on the NFL Network.

King's postseason recognition extends a standout year in which he was also named First Team All-SIAC, solidifying his place among the premier defensive backs in HBCU football.

King delivered one of the strongest defensive seasons in the conference, leading the Golden Tigers with consistent high-level performances. He finished the year with 32 total tackles, including 23 solo stops, and demonstrated his playmaking ability with four interceptions, tying for the team lead. He also collected a fumble recovery, added 2.0 tackles for loss, and broke up multiple passes as part of a secondary that relied heavily on his discipline and leadership.

King's interceptions came at pivotal moments throughout the season, including key conference matchups against Morehouse, Allen, Lane, and Miles, helping maintain Tuskegee's defensive stability in close contests. He also registered several multi-tackle games and recorded a season-high six tackles against Central State.

Beyond his statistical impact, King consistently set the tone for the Golden Tiger defense with his anticipation, coverage skills, and ability to disrupt opposing passing attacks. His performance throughout the year earned the attention of professional scouts and evaluators, eventually leading to his selection for the Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl, an elite postseason showcase featuring top draft-eligible HBCU seniors. The annual event, held in New Orleans, provides national exposure and an opportunity for athletes to display their skills in front of NFL personnel.

The senior becomes the latest in a line of Golden Tigers to advance to a nationally recognized all-star game, continuing Tuskegee's tradition of producing high-impact defensive backs poised for professional opportunities. The Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl will take place in February at Yulman Stadium and will be televised live on the NFL Network.
