The 2014-15 athletic year for Tuskegee University ended as another successful campaign for all sports, claiming two conference titles and participating in the postseason in football and softball. The sports information office at Tuskegee, along with the help of fans and alumni from the university, have put together a list of the top moments from the past year. Over the next three weeks, the highlights from the year will be posted on GoldenTigerSports.com, with the top moment being revealed on July 31.
Top-10 Tuskegee Highlights from 2014-15#7 :: Cross Country Sweeps Home Meet Championships The third annual Tuskegee University Cross Country Invitational could not have been scripted any better as the only home meet of the season for the Golden Tigers. The race got underway at 9 am under overcast skies in Macon County, and it didn't long for the top runners to dictate the pace and separate from the field.
On the men's side, Tuskegee claimed the team title and was led by
Trevon Strange who finished first overall in the race with a time of 31:14.20. He was joined on the medal stand by
Maurice McGee who finished second with a time of 34:06.10. The Golden Tigers had two other runners finish in the top five, and they top six runners – including Strange and McGee – finished in the top 10.
David Dixon paced the remaining four runners in the top 10 with a time of 35:56.80 to finish fourth, while teammate Gregory Coleman finished fifth overall with a time of 36:56.50. Teammates
Mekal Smith (38:35.20) and
Anthony Dickens (40:54.30) rounded out the top 10 finishers for Tuskegee, finishing sixth and ninth respectively.
On the women's side, the Tuskegee women claimed the team title and they were led by
Jade Finch with a second place finish overall in the race and a time of 27:29:58.
Wamika Kemp finished behind her teammate in third with a time of 27:45.53.
Like the men, the women dominated the top 10 overall with six other runners finishing in the top 10.
Evelyn Williams (28:11.43) and
Jessica Daniels (29:59.26) rounded out the top five for Tuskegee, finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
Drew Agnew (30:08.60), Chante Warner (30:12.90) and
Sacha Bowen (32:17.74) rounded out the top 10 for the Golden Tigers. Other top runners for Tuskegee included
Brianna Allen (33:23.93),
Bria Anderson (34:53.11) and
